

In line with their day-to-day activities, the companies within the Surya Internusa Group are involved in community relationship activities, both socially and in relation to regional government.
TCP Internusa, through Glodok Plaza, supports the Jakarta regional government by acting as a pilot project in the revitalization of the Glodok area as a tourist area within the "old town" and China Town of Jakarta. Each year TCP is involved in a variety of activities related to the preservation of the culture and social activities including: Chinese New Year, Cap Go Meh, the Moon Cake Festival, Barongsai, Wushu, Dragon Dance and Chikung. Other projects include an open tournament of Xiang Qi, the Koko-Cici 2004 Final Election Night, blood donation and the provision of free medication.
PT. Suryacipta Swadaya, through its Community Development Program, has created a "Suryacipta Cares" program, which grants scholarships and utilities to several schools in the area surrounding the Suryacipta City of Industry Karawang. Suryacipta also donates Qur'ban animals during the Idul Adha to local people. In order to build on TCP's good relationships with the Polri/TNI people Qur'ban animals were also donated through the offices of Polsek, Koramil and the regional government.
PT. Pacific Prestress Indonesia recognizes its social responsibility with the grant of scholarships for the children of qualifying employees during the Indonesian independence day, on August 17th, 2006.
As part of its social activities and environmental awareness, Meliá Bali Villas & Spa Resort (MBH) has made social visits and donations to various places and people in Bali including: the victims of natural disaster in Karangasem; children with polio in Ubud; and the poor families in Tanjung Benoa. In December 2004, MBH donated money to the victims of Tsunami disaster in Aceh. MBH also helped with fogging fumigation at Bualu Village, as part of the fight against the epidemic of dengue fever, and in its efforts to build awareness of safety and security, has provided assistance in the renovation of the local police station.
Gran Meliá Jakarta (GMJ) has participated in relieving the suffering of: the victims of flood at Kalimalang, Jakarta; the victims of Tsunami disaster in Aceh by donating food, medicines and clothing through IRC (International Red Cross); the victims of the bomb explosion outside the Australian Embassy, Jakarta; and the survivors of the earthquake that hit Yogyakarta and its suburbs, with donations of blankets and first-aid medicines such as antibiotics, anti-sedative, and antiseptics via the Indonesian Red Cross Headquarter, South Jakarta. Also in conjunction with the IRC, GMJ conducts blood donor programs.
In line with its concern for both the natural and social environment, the Surya Internusa Group is committed to continue its environmental and humanitarian activities in the coming years to achieve a harmonious relationship between the management and the people, so that the Surya Internusa Group and the people of Indonesia can grow together.

UNICEF Young Writers Award 2007
To give the contribution for the goodness of the future of Indonesian children, UNICEF Indonesia in cooperation with Yayasan Kesejahteraan Anak Indonesia, Gran Meliá Jakarta, Bank Niaga, LG Electronic, Space Toon-Children TV Station, Astro-TV Cable, BENTANG PUSTAKA Publisher, and also from media: Kompas Daily Newspaper, Suara Pembaruan, KawanKU Magazine and some other medias to published this event, organized the fourth writing competition of « Indonesian Young Writers Competition », participated by 1800 children from all over Indonesia. The winners are; Ms. Istini, SMPN 2 Pati, Central Java - Junior High School and Mr. Bima Syahab Hifmawan from SMAN 1 Bantul, Jogjakarta, Central Java - Senior High School. Drs.Suryadi Suparman, MPA – The Deputy Minister on Gender Equality from The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment The Republic of Indonesia, presented the awards.

Easter Celebration
In commemorating Easter, Gran Meliá Jakarta donated 100 pieces of bed sheets, 100 pieces of pillow-cases and Rp.1 million for Kasih PNIEL Foundation, an orphanage and retirement home located in Bintaro. After service taken place, Training Manager Retno Wuri who presented Gran Meliá Jakarta, handed over the donation to the President of the Foundation Mrs. Stien Hitipeuw.
